He brought me out into a broad place;
he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he recompensed me.
Are we gifted or compensated?
Do we receive what we earn or despite what we do?
From another psalm assigned for today: "If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?" (Psalm 130)
God delights in you, and even in me, despite all?
We are loved, not because we are loveable but because God is love.
Psalm 18
