The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry.
The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears,
and rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the broken-hearted,
and saves the crushed in spirit.
We are each broken in some way, but we are meant for wholeness.
To be righteous is to know ourselves, to be in creative relationship with our community, to have integrity.
God is against those who break, shatter, and divide.
God reaches out to those with a broken spirit and restores those whose identity has been crushed.
We may be broken but in God's love are one.
