O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;
you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear
to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed,
so that those from earth may strike terror no more.
The New Revised Standard Version indicates the meaning of the last line is uncertain.
It has something to do with terror, fear, and dread.
It is unclear if humans are the source or object of the verb.
Whichever, the terror, fear, and dread will be brought to an end by doing justice to the most vulnerable and oppressed.
Psalm 10
