Psalm 36

How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

I just spent three sometimes difficult days in Chicago.

My room overlooked the Chicago River.

Long neglected, abused, and polluted, the river is now teeming with kayaks, lined with restaurants, a source of life and liveliness.

Too often we neglect and abuse God.

But even more than a river, God persists in welcome and abundance.
