Psalm 102

My days are like an evening shadow;
I wither away like grass.

While pointing toward death, this is not an unpleasant image.

It suggests a long day completed.

It implies a season's growth fulfilled.

In the dusk of a hot summer's day the grass may even recover.

But the close of one season is, in any case, succeeded by the Spring.
