Psalm 71

You who have done great things,
O God, who is like you?
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities
will revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
you will bring me up again.

The word translated above as calamities is רֵעֶה or re'eh.

The literal translation is friend or, more precisely, friend of the king.

In relationships and especially in relationship with power we experience many troubles.

At the core of the trouble is our effort to choose for others, to control.

In relationship with God we learn that control is not possible.
