Trouble and anguish have come upon me,
but your commandments are my delight.
Your decrees are righteous for ever;
give me understanding that I may live.
This Hebrew word for understanding is בִּין or
biyn.
It usually implies close observation, discernment, and intelligence.
But in some contexts biyn also suggests caring and acting.
Objectivity does not always allow a full understanding.
There are realities that must be subjectively experienced to fully understand.
Psalm 119
